Poncho, Primark/shirt, H&M/dress, vintage/flatforms, ASOS.
So. This is for those days when you know you’re going to have go day to night to next day again before you get home. The day where you have to go shopping, eat dinner, go pre-drinking, go drinking, go clubbing, stay over at your friend’s place, breakfast next day, more shopping, and finally go home and recover your dignity and hygiene.
And of course, carry only a handbag. (Who wants to be a bag lady?)
I only managed to get one brief pic of the overall outfit and sadly there isn’t one of the dress itself (another post I promise), but here’s the breakdown:
A) the poncho – also functions as a blanket and the only thing between you and a cold when roughing it on your friend’s floor
B) the shirt – not entirely necessary but a good extra layer and can also be tied around the waist for an 90s look
C) the dress – the quintessential little black dress, long sleeved for colder seasons and for those Mary-Kate Olsen moods
D) the flat forms – height for going out, but flat for trekking around
Of course this could also just mean that I spend too long thinking about my clothes. Which is totally true too.
Hot stone pot seafood, Bibigo.
Being the shortass that I am, the normal proportions of my outfit goes something like this: oversized top, tiny/tight bottoms, all in an effort to make myself look like I have the standard amount of leg ratio to body. Sometimes this ends up a little skanky (short shorts are great, but even I can admit the fact they don’t reek of sophistication).
Being winter too, means I unconsciously give myself a free-for-all to go mental on the knits. Particularly oversized ones. This means if you any urge to find yourself swimming in a jumper you can find my wardrobe and satisfy all desires. That camel, off-shoulder piece? There. That cream, open-knit tasselled affair? There. That boxy, pale pink Whistles (thanks Mama!) beauty? There.
So this season I’m working against myself. There will be oversized jumpers, for sure (you can’t quit cold turkey) but I’m going to be looking for a few cropped warmers. Starting with this one above.
Now I just have to combine them with these…
Sandals, Zara. Also totally excellent books that are on display.
Once upon a time we all got posed that question of ‘desert island item’. And most of us agonised over those key three items – mascara, lipstick, or foundation?
Not me. I knew from the beginning that I needed that eyeliner, and I would need it always.
Although I’ve experimented over the (whole grand total of 22) years, I’ve never really managed to deviate from the good old cat-flick. So really whenever I have a ‘new’ look it’s kind of me just building off the eyeliner.
Revlon color stay liquid eye pen, 01 Blackest Black/Collection 2000 dazzling gel liner, 3 Funk & 1 Glitz/Lancôme L’absolu rouge lipstick.
Case in point: I bought glitter eyeliner.
And though this was probably best left for those still in their tweens, I kind of find it has a certain charm. Or sparkle. (I’m so sorry for that pun. Sort of.) So here’s the 2 looks I’ve been sporting lately – and if you up to it, you can even layer the two glitter eyeliners on top of each other to create some facial glitterball that’ll blind everyone’s eyes but your own. In a good way, of course.
Galaxy shirt, New Look/velvet leggings, New Look/cardigan, vintage/boots, vintage/bag, Primark.
If you look closely, you can see my pink socks. Probably the most inspired bit of this outfit.
